I say simply, its not a fact that modernsTurks of Turkey are descendent from Mongolians.Being nomadic around the central Asian steppes and being blood and cultural relatives of modern Mongols are two entirely different things.
Yes im very interested in reading about Turks and the history from central Asia,im proud of it.
I am a European.
Turks living in Turkey aren’t related to Mongol s.Alot of TURKIC people in central Asia are more Asian looking, but still, they aren’t Mongol cultured.
Maybe you should read about Mongols today to actually see how far apart Turks and Mongols actually are, they share next to nothing in culture, looks or religion…
The term ‘Turkish people’ relates to the people from the Republic of Turkey, its not used to describe ‘Turkic peoples’ of central Asia.

Question: Need help from Cyprus locals please?
I am after the name of an item the local children used to use.
I used to live in Northern Cyprus as a child and me and my friends (boys) used to have home made slings! It was made from the tongue of a shoe, and long piece of pink elastic (i think it was called “Kuş elastik” although i may be mistaken). I have tried searching the internet for pictures and references to this item with no success. Can you help?
Does anyone know what i am talking about and if so what was the proper name for the item, and even better if you know where the elastic can still be bought?
Thanks in advance for any help
P.S I am aware this is in the “Travel > Europe (Continental) > Turkey” category, unfortunately it was the closest i could get to Cyprus!

The sling of children is called sapan in Turkish. I don’t know if it has a different name in Northern Cyrpus.
